VEN. DR BENSON OGHENEARUGBA IYOMIH

Ven. Benson Oghenearugba M Iyomih born into the families of Late Dr Dennis money Itagene and Mrs Dora Mammi Iyomih who hailed from Iyede-Ame Town and Aviara Town in Ndokwa East and Isoko South, Delta State Nigeria. He started his ministry as an Evangistist, licensed Diocesan lay-reader in 1977 in the old Warri Diocese. In 1993 became Church teacher February 21, 1993 in St Mathias Church Eku and in September same year was transferred to St James’ Anglican church Igun, in then Agbon Archdeaconry, and was enlisted for one year Catechist training course 1995, in St Paul’s university college, Awka.

Dr Iyomih attended Uzere grammar school Uzere, and later obtained his WAEC in Owhere secondary school Okpara water side in Ethiope East local Government Area Delta State. Other institutions attended are St Paul’s University College Awka where he bagged a Diploma in theology (Dip Th); University of Nigeria Nsukka, Bachelor of Arts (B. A. Hons); Delta State University Abraka, post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE), Crowther Graduate Theological Seminary Abiokuta, Master in Theology (M.TH); Ajayi Crowther University Oyo, Master of Arts (M.A); Crowther Graduate Theological Seminary Abiokuta, Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Old Testament Studies; through it’s affiliate AICI, EMEVOR Delta State Nigeria.

The Ven. Benson was made a Deacon by the Rt Rev’d N.A ENUKU of blessed memory in July 2nd, 2000 at All Saints Anglican Church Airport Road Warri and Posted to Cathedral Church of St Andrew Okere Road, and there in 2001 after Priesthood Ordination, posted to the Good Shepherd Anglican Church Igbudu Warri as Vicar.  Preferred Canon in Church of the Redeemer, Warri 2010, appointed chairman Agbon South 16th June 2024 and as a Venerable 26th September 2024 respectively.

BENSON HAVE SERVED IN THE FOLLOWING STATIONS:

*Cathedral Church of St Andrew, Okere Road Warri

*The Good Shepherd Anglican Church Igbudu DDPA, Warri.

* Holy Trinity Anglican Grammar school Okuvo as Chaplain. October 2006.

* The Good Shepherd Anglican Igbudu as Priest 2006. 

* Church of Redeemer Frank-Ailemen Warri, as Vicar 2008,

* Emmanuel Anglican Church Effurun 2015 to December 2020 as vicar

* Cathedral Church of St Andrew as Canon in Residence, 2021;

* June 16, 2024 appointed chairman Agbon South Archdeaconry and was preferred Venerable on 26th September 2024,

* St Luke’s Anglican Church Kokori inland 2024 till date.

Ven. Benson’s determination measure on the training of the young ones; passionate in transforming lives and building up individuals in reconciliation to Christ, preaching, singing in adoration to God. He is a theologian and a counsellor.

SOME MERITORIOUS AWARDS

*The Bible Society of Nigeria in recognition of selfless, meritorious and sacrificial service to God through my supportive role to the Bible house given 12th day of October, 2013.

* The Nigerian Red Cross Society in recognition of the long outstanding humanitarian gestures and examplary contribution through promotion of the welfare and standard of life of the community.

* Merit Award for Excellence service in the Good Shepherd Anglican Church given this day 14th February 2016.

Benson Oghenearugba Iyomih married to Mrs Patricia Oghenekevwobo Akoro Iyomih as a woman incomparable to no other, she is like an apple tree among the trees in the forest. I sat in her shadow and her fruit is sweet to my taste by bringing forth Iruoghenewoma, Iruoghenewerere, Oghenevwarho, Efuo, Obokporo, Ogheneghalome and Ogheneserome. To be candid it is God who by His grace have done all these. To Him be praised.

Benson in his way of life loves reading, singing, football, making friends and he patiently desire the happiness of others.
