The Anglican Diocese of Warri was filled with joy and thanksgiving on Sunday, 5th July 2026, as five priests were ordained and one deacon was made during a solemn ordination service held at St. Matthias Anglican Church, Ugborikoko. The event marked a significant milestone in the life of the Diocese as the newly ordained ministers were commissioned for greater service in God’s vineyard.
The service which was presided over by his lordship, the Rt Revd Christian Esezi Ide, JP, commenced at about 10:00 a.m. with a colourful procession led by the Diocesan Bishop, accompanied by the clergy from within and outside the Diocese, legal luminaries, members of the Knighthood, and other distinguished guests. The procession added grandeur and dignity to the sacred occasion.
The was followed by the presentation of the Colours by the Boys’ Brigade’s colour party; and was followed by the Bible study led by Rev. Chief Atevure. The sermon was preached by Rev. Obibi, who challenged the Ordinands to remain steadfast in their calling and to carry out their priestly ministry with faithfulness, humility, integrity, and the fear of God. He reminded them that the Christian ministry is a sacred trust that demands total commitment to Christ and selfless service to His people.
During the service, the candidates took their ordination oaths before God and the Church, after which the Diocesan Bishop formally ordained the five priests and made one deacon through prayer and the laying on of hands. The litany was led by the Rev. Dr Kingsley Ugwumadu.
The well-attended service drew clergy, family members, friends, parishioners, and dignitaries from across the Diocese and beyond. It was a glorious occasion characterized by heartfelt worship, thanksgiving, and celebration of God’s faithfulness in raising faithful labourers for His Church.
Following the ordination, the newly made Deacon was posted to St Stephen‘s Anglican Church, Jakpa Road, to begin his diaconal ministry, while the newly ordained priests were directed to continue serving in their respective stations.
In his closing remarks, the Diocesan Bishop expressed profound gratitude to God for the peaceful and successful conduct of the service. He also appreciated all the clergy, guests, families, friends, and members of the Diocese whose presence and support contributed to the success of the occasion. He prayed that the grace of God would continually uphold the newly ordained ministers as they faithfully proclaim the Gospel and shepherd God’s people.
The service concluded with prayers, congratulations, and joyful fellowship as the congregation celebrated this memorable occasion in the life of the Anglican Diocese of Warri.

I was born into the family of the late Chief Lieutenant Peter Akpovwovwo; my mother’s name is Mrs Florence Akpovwovwo. I was born on November 11, 1981. In Ijebudu- Ode, Ogun State. Hails from Okpara Inland. Both my parents are from Okpara Inland.
I attended my primary school in: Akwa-Ibo state, Oyo; urhuegbe primary school, Okpara Inland, Delta State. My secondary school in Igun, Okpara Inland; and Ovu. I was baptised on 22nd April, 2001. And confirmed: 22nd January, 2012.I was a sexton in John’s Anglican church, Okpara Inland. In 2013 -2016 attended catechist school, at Emevor; Adam Christian institute, Emevor. After my graduation and commissioning, I was posted to St. John’s Anglican Church, Okpara Inland; then to St James church, Okurekpo; to st James Agbon-rhoro; to St James Oviorie; to Our Saviour’s Anglican Church, Ukpokiti; to Christ the King Anglican Church, Egbokodo Isekiri. The Revd. Tamunonimiten Don-Pedro was born on Tuesday April 22, 1984 into the family of Late Apostle Asiyemia Crawford Don-Pedro and Siya welford Poritas of Abonnema in Akuku-Toru LGA of Rivers State and Ode-Itsekiri of Warri South LGA of Delta state respectively
Tamunonimitein attended UPU Olanada in Ekeja Lagos for his primary school but later uptained his first school living certificate at sangana state school 1 mile one diobe Port Harcourt
He then proceeded to comprehensive Secondary school Abonnema for his SSCE
Don-Pedro Tamunonimitein also attended Adam igbudu christian Center for his pastoral formation thereafter proceeded to Ezekiel college of theology in 2021 where he obtained his Bachelor in theology. (B.Th)
